PAVING & MASONRY CONTRACTORS
Asphalt Driveways
Asphalt is the most popular driveway material on Long Island because it stands up to freeze-thaw winters, installs in one to two days, and costs less than concrete or pavers. Islandwide Paving & Masonry installs, resurfaces, and replaces asphalt driveways across Long Island, with proper base preparation and drainage built for the local climate. Every driveway is led on-site by owner William, every job starts with a free written estimate, and we hold a 5.0-star rating from 30 Google reviews.
Our Asphalt Driveway Installation Process
The finished surface is only as good as what goes underneath it. We excavate and grade so water drains away from your home; lay four to six inches of crushed stone compacted in layers (the part that prevents cracking); apply two to three inches of hot-mix asphalt, rolled while hot; then feather and support the edges. Your driveway is typically drivable within 24 to 72 hours.

Driveway Paving on Long Island: Asphalt vs. Concrete vs. Pavers
If you are comparing driveway paving options for your Long Island home: asphalt is the lowest cost and lasts 15–20+ years, ideal for our freeze-thaw climate; concrete costs more and lasts 20–30 years in milder conditions but cracks more easily here; pavers are the premium choice at 30+ years and the widest design range. For a deeper comparison, see our guide on why asphalt outperforms other materials for Long Island homes.
How Much Does an Asphalt Driveway Cost on Long Island?
Cost depends on the size of the driveway, the condition of the existing base, and site access. Because every property is different, the only accurate number is a measured, on-site quote — which we provide free, with a written, itemized estimate and no obligation.
New Installation vs. Resurfacing
If the base underneath is still solid, we can often resurface with an asphalt overlay, which costs less than a full replacement. If the base has failed — widespread cracking, sinking, or potholes — a full replacement lasts longer. We tell you honestly which one your driveway needs during the free estimate. If your driveway is already cracking, our Long Island driveway repair guide walks through the options.
Maintenance That Doubles Your Driveway’s Life
Sealcoat every two to three years, fill small cracks before water gets in, and keep the edges supported. For the full routine, read our guide on asphalt driveway maintenance that saves money, and for winter, how to prevent ice on your driveway.
